Merck has announced that on or before October 31, 2016, GARDASIL will no longer be available for purchase from Merck. All remaining product in the supply chain will have an expiration date of May 2017. GARDASIL® 9 (Human Papillomavirus 9-valent Vaccine, Recombinant) is still available and will not be impacted by this action. On Sept 20th, Par announced the discontinuation of the Gildess (generic Loestrin) line of oral contraceptive products. This includes Gildess Fe 1.5/30 and 1/20, Gildess 1.5/30 and 1/20, and Gildess Fe 24. At the time, no reason for the discontinuation was given. Subsequently on Sept 29th the company announced a recall of all Gildess product. Recall notices have been sent. At this time we recommend Tarina Fe 1/20 (Afaxys) & Junel Fe 1.5/30 (Teva) as replacement products.
